Steering wheel control

This work has been performed at the Opens internal link in current windowGerman Aerospace Center DLR and is part of the following publication (also see our Opens internal link in current windowpublication database):

Gursky B. I. and Müller D. (2013) Novel Steering Concepts For Personal Aerial Vehicles Deutscher Luft- und Raumfahrtkongress 2013.

Description

We have investigated suitable control concepts for future PAVs. Car-like steering concepts would be a candidate for flight-naïve PAV users.  DLR has proposed a novel control concept for PAVs that is designed to offer a control concept that is intuitively understood by PAV users who are already used to steering automobiles. This video explains the background and concept, and highlights DLR's approach towards testing the novel concept in flight on the Flying Helicopter Simulator.
